Company Profile

Wight Noise Ltd. is a fully independent, multidisciplinary acoustic consultancy which offers sound advice in simple terms across a range of specialist areas, including environmental, industrial and entertainment noise, and architectural and building acoustics.

We take great pride in offering a comprehensive range of professional, competitively-priced, quality acoustic design and testing services, with emphasis on client communication and customer satisfaction – much of our work is repeat business for existing clients who have been more than satisfied with our service.

Based on the Isle of Wight, but offering services nationwide and internationally, Wight Noise is an established consultancy which has strong links with Solent Acoustics  and Southampton Solent University.  These links allow ready access to advanced acoustic test facilities, including Head-And-Torso-Simulators, impedance tubes, laser vibrometry and a hemi-anechoic chamber.

Principal Consultant, Jonty Stewart MSc MIOA MIET MInstSCE, has over 20 years’ experience in acoustics- and sound-related areas, with more than 10 years lecturing in Higher Education.  Coming into acoustics through sound engineering, he continues to have  a significant interest in this area, and is now employed as a Senior Consultant for Vanguardia Consulting specialising in large-scale event noise management.

Jonty takes an active part in the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC), having performed duties as both Chair and Vice Chair of the Registration Scheme / Certification Committee.  He still sits on the Certification Committee, which oversees quality assurance schemes for several areas of acoustics, including precompletion testing and acoustics in schools, and is a Registered Tester under the ANC Scheme.  As an extension to his work helping to set up a Competent Individual scheme for sound insulation testers in Ireland, he also holds a directorial position with the Sound Insulation Testing Register (Ireland) (SITRI).

In addition to consultancy, Jonty is a visiting tutor at Southampton Solent University, where, during a 6 year tenure as a senior lecturer, he was instrumental in designing the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) Certificate of Competence in Building Acoustics Measurement (CCBAM), as well as its Irish equivalent (CCIBAM).  He remains heavily involved in the delivery of these courses, and has been appointed Chief Examiner for both by the Institute of Acoustics.   He also continues to be involved in the delivery of the IOA Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control and is Chair of the IOA Education Committee.

Will Beckingham TechIOA holds IOA Certificates of Competence in Environmental Noise and Building Acoustics Measurement, and is due to complete his IOA Diploma in 2020.  As an acoustic technician, Will is also a Registered Tester under the ANC Scheme and has experience of working on a broad range of acoustics projects including numerous industrial environmental noise assessments, nightclub and festival noise management, go-kart noise and BREEAM compliance testing.
